Artist: Andy Melvin Reviewer: jeanette 2007-11-17 - 01:11:01 EST AMAZING!!! Thanks so much Andy for putting all of your heart into these songs for the church
Artist: Andy Melvin Reviewer: joseph 2007-11-10 - 08:11:45 EST this cd is amazing!
Artist: Steven Curtis Chapman Reviewer: Kevin Neely 2007-10-29 - 09:10:20 EST SCC has done a remarkable job keeping his traditional sound while still making it modern. I love the fact that i hear nuances of his old style, nestled into this incredible wall of sound type music. I find myself turning up songs like "Broken" "Yours" "Children of God" and "You Are Being Loved", to me that's the judge of a good album, can i turn it up and sing along while im driving down the road. At the same time, the next song has me longing for a little daughter to play with, or reminiscing of how MY lovely wife is changing the world. I'm not sure what else to look for in a good album, if you can find it in this one. If an artist changes his sound too much, he isn't "staying true to his roots", if he doesn't, he's just putting out "more of the same" - how do you win? With the less than impressive field of CCM artists out now, i find this album a refreshing surge into an otherwise drab field of music.
Artist: Desperation Band Reviewer: Heather Hope 2007-10-24 - 02:10:11 EST Allow me to start with this:
"Everyone Overcome" is one of the best albums that you can pick up this year. If you've picked up a paper in the past year, odds are you've heard some news about life at New Life Church and how our lives as a church family were dramatically changed last winter. They said we wouldn't make it, they said we wouldn't last... They said it was over. Now, almost a year to the day, we're able to proclaim that "By the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony we have OVERCOME!". The songs included on this album hold a special significance for the worship leaders of Desperation, because more than ever before they have been living them. Each song is a testament to a different day and another hurdle conquered through Jesus Christ. The crowd has been mixed in louder than ever before in this album, and unlike they're previous releases; this album kicks off with an instrumental intro by Desperation drummer Brad Nyght. Light of Salvation is a new Jon Egan freedom anthem about how, through Jesus Christ, our chains are broken so we can dance and sing and shine the light of salvation. This song will have you dancing and pumping your fist (especially during the "Hey! Hey! Hey! Hey! We're shining the light of salvation!" part!) I Know is an energetic song that has a Hillsong United sort of feel. It's about knowing that Jesus has rescued us and the life he has for us is the absolute best ("I know, I know, I know, I know I have found the way that cannot be shaken...")[written by Jon Egan and _tag student ministries assoc. youth pastor Jeremiah Parks] Taking Over Now This song has one of the raddest guitar riffs I've heard in a while, Erick Todd definitely delivers. Written by Glenn Packiam, Taking Over Now is about how Jesus has lifted us up above the things we wouldn't be able to conquer ourselves. God is in control! The bridge of the song is full of energy and will get you up and moving around... it's pretty much amazing. Counting On God is an anthem by Jared Anderson (I bet you expected to hear Jon Egan, huh?) that is incredibly simple, yet powerful. The breakdown in the middle of the song has a huge impact on the heart as you sing along [The miracle of Christ in me, is the mystery that sets me free. I'm nothing like I used to be, open up your eyes, you'll see.]. "I'm counting on God" is one of the most enjoyable tracks on this album. Overcome is THE defining song of the album. It was first written spontaneously at a _tag student ministries (New Life's High School group) winter retreat during worship after a message delivered by New Life's collegiate house of prayer (theFurnace) and Desperation Conference founder, David Perkins. Overcoming was a pivotal idea in those difficult times... so out of suffering came one of the greatest worship songs the Desperation Band has ever put out. There's a good reason it's 12 minutes long. Influenced in a large part by Revelation 12:11 -- "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony. They did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death." -- and is the verse that graces the album cover and resides inside the lyrics of the song. It is a declaration to the power of God over darkness. "Savior, worthy of honor and glory, worthy of all of our praise. You overcame." It also includes audio from testimonies given at the Desperation Student Conference 2007 as a special treat with phenomenal impact. Maker of Heaven Written by Glenn Packiam, this song was first released on the Desperation Band "Sessions&Remixes EP". "Through it all I know You are God alone." included on this track is the beautiful vocal backing of Bekah Ham, a 19 year old New Life Church student. I love the bridge in this song as well... it's just a very awesome moment in which you can lift your hands and just praise God with saying "Hallelujah! Hallelujah! You are God alone!", and that is a very reassuring thing indeed. Pleasing To You written by Jared Anderson, "Pleasing to You" is a prayer. A cry to be pleasing to God. "I give my life, my all. Taking the cross I will follow, Jesus my heart must know I'm pleasing You." Good To Me This is one of my absolute favorite songs on this cd. Bekah Ham solos in this song and does a fantastic job! The song is about the overwhelming goodness of God and it's elegant simplicity is what makes it tug at the heart. "All your love fills my soul and my heart will always know, God, You are good to me." It encourages the listener to contemplate the goodness of God and the things God blesses us with. Open Your Eyes One of the first songs written during the first extremely difficult months for New Life, "Open Your Eyes" begs that we lock eyes with Jesus and remember what it is He has done for us. The song is laden with passion and prayer. The soloists Jon Egan and Stephanie Dorman are so heartfelt... the breakdown of the song exceptionally passionate and wonderful -- "Open your eyes, look to the skies. The King of Love, the King of Heaven. Tell everyone, your daughters and sons, The King of Love, the King of Heaven." I'm Coming Your Way was written by Jared Anderson for his album "Where to Begin" and was actually almost not recorded in the first place. It was put on the album last minute and was haled as one of the best songs on "Where to Begin."... on this album however, "Open Your Eyes" runs into this song that is mildly reminiscent of "Refuse to be Denied". As the audience sings "I'm Coming Your Way" there is a sense of pursuit and hunger... a generation ready for desperate pursuit of God. It makes me very happy that they mixed the audience in louder than in any of the other albums. I Will Go is probably the most anticipated release for any New Life student... they've been waiting almost two years for it to be recorded. "I Will Go" is a ridiculously powerful song inspired by Isaiah 6:8 -- "The I heard the voice of the Lord saying, 'Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?" And I said "Here am I! Send me!" -- an excellent closer to [the live part of] the cd. The truth is we live in a generation that needs God more than ever. In Matthew 28:19 we are commissioned by the Lord to go out into the world and to make disciples of every nation, tribe and tongue and to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. God asks "Whom shall I send?" and "I Will Go" is the best answer we could give! My Savior Lives [Radio Version] is a pretty interesting new version of this song. "My Savior Lives" was originally released on the album of the same name released last December by NewLifeWorship. This version was done in studio with just the Desperation guys, unlike the live version which included Ross Parsley and the New Life Church choir. Artist: Casting Crowns Reviewer: Hailey C. 2007-10-22 - 19:10:38 EST Casting Crowns is one of my favorite Christian bands of all time. Each song has such a wonderful message that my family and I can relate to. The first song that i ever heard from this band, was Who Am I... i fell in love with that song because it helped me realize who i am in Christ Jesus and that i would be so messed up if i never had him in my heart.. Thanks again Casting Crowns for your wonderful lyrics and am looking forward to listening to many more of your CDS! love you all...
Artist: C.J. Bergmen Reviewer: denise 2007-10-18 - 23:10:40 EST I think CJ's cd is one of the most real, to the heart, worship cds that I have heard. I just wept when i first listened to, The Real Me. The words are so powerful. I have that song on myspace, and people come back to listen to it all the time. Take All of Me, is another that just says what we want to say in song. I could go on and on about each song, but just want to share with others in hopes that you will be as blessed as I have been and others I have sent this cd too!!!!! Awesome, awesome cd!!!!!
Artist: The Myriad Reviewer: Kim Riley 2007-10-17 - 00:10:10 EST Just returned from seeing myriad, who was opening for David Crowder band. I accompanied my son who is big into David Crowder. I was absolutly blown away by these guys though as I am into more of a harder brand of music than my son, I was surprised at how hard they rocked. These guys are good whether you are into Christian music or not. I wish them luck on their musical journey, they found a new fan in me.
Artist: Red Reviewer: Donald Weaver 2007-10-16 - 19:10:37 EST This album makes no bones about being real. The music is powerful, strong and very well put together. The lyrics definitely reflect the battle that most of us go through and the message definitely connects us emotionally.
I thought I was the only one that couldn't put this album down; it's good to see I'm not alone.
Well-done RED, Your ministry is real, a credit to Christianity and God’s love for us all.
I'm sure we all can't wait for your next album.

Artist: 2nd Chapter of Acts Reviewer: Joy Gunning 2007-08-30 - 05:08:23 EST I have to agree with Dave Ball concerning 2nd Chapter of Acts being the best Christian music group of the 70s and 80s. Literally, the anointing on their music helped me through deliverance. People talk about the member's voices; really it is the anointing on their voices and the intensity of the conviction that carries through their voices that makes them so good, because as singers they are really pretty ordinary the way I'm ordinary, and people tell I have a nice voice in church. Phewy! It isn't singing ability but the depth of intensity and love for God that makes the voices so captivating, and that's why this group is so good. They have been blessed with talent, yes; but that talent alone isn't what makes them. The anointing is what makes them. Hallelujah!
Artist: Fike and Dana Reviewer: Amy Arseneau 2007-08-30 - 01:08:52 EST Fike and Dana are so inspirational for the soul. Fike writes the songs and Dana brings them alive. It is soul moving as one listens to this cd as well as their first cd "In and Out of Season" that you can't help but be moved.
Artist: Point Of Grace Reviewer: Susan 2007-08-28 - 09:08:02 EST This new CD is so moving and uplifting. It also really gets to the heart of the matter - dealing with life, love, worship, devotion and not just for our GOD but for all of those people in and around our lives as well. POG... you have done it again and even better - if that is even possible. I truly appreciate your willingness to let GOD lead you in your music and be flexible enough to try new things and at the same time to stand firmly on those principles that we, as Christians, must never back down from. I have performed your music for years - with others and as solos, and it has never failed to allow the spirit to move whatever venue I may be in. I believe that is because the Holy Spirit is totally in every piece you have chosen to record and you are all to be commended for your obedience to GOD in this respect. I just want to say to all of you.... that I know you are only human woman with human problems and challenges and as an artist myself I know that there surely have been times that you feel completely inadequate to open your mouth and sing these songs - lest I remind you that GOD is still good and while we are never worthy, HE always is...and I'm certain that HE is blessed by your voices each and every time you lift them up, regardless of whatever you may be facing in your own lives. So, THANK YOU! May GOD continue to bless all of your lives and your families in everything you do.
Artist: Matthew and Lizi Reviewer: Mike Camper 2007-08-28 - 07:08:07 EST I have had the pleasure of working with Matthew and Lizi at the Fellowship of Memorial in Houston, Texas for awhile and can say that this cd rocks. They are both extremely talented and through Jesus their music has been an inspiration to me and others who truly believe. Thank you and I hope to hear more from you in the future.....
Artist: Hillsong Reviewer: Dave Wilson 2007-08-27 - 22:08:06 EST I was so impacted at Hillsong Conference in Sydney in July 2007. I bought the latest DVD and my 2 sons, Sam and Joel, aged 3 and 15 months love it. They bounce and dance to the tracks. Sam jumps up and down, lifts up his right arm and says "Come on Dad!". At the end of many of the songs he says out loud, "Thank you Lord!" Thanks for your heart and inspiration and encouragement to fully worship the LORD!
Grace, love and peace, Dave Wilson.
Artist: JJ Heller Reviewer: Firewalker 2007-08-27 - 21:08:25 EST When I first heard the song Love Me I was so Moved that I cried. I was enthralled inspired and changed... Thankyou JJ.
