Thank you for your interest in our Digital Distribution service! Our digital distribution is powered by our partner, Catapult, which is one of the few authorized digital distributors for over 55 music stores. Catapult distributes into major stores such as iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster,eMusic,Puretracks, Tower Records, and many more. Artists and labels that utilize Catapult's service receive the highest payout percentage in the world; 91%-95% of the proceeds from the music store. Catapult has created a very simple process to help get your music digitally distributed as quick as possible. Please read below to find out more about Catapult's service and how it can help you get your music into the digital marketplace.
Some of the top stores Catapult distributes to: Here is how it works: 1) An artist or label logs into their Artist/Label Control Panel at the Catapult website and submits their album's information (Track listing, Copyrights, etc) and agrees to the digital distribution agreement. 2) The artist or label would then pay Catapult a one time setup fee of $35 for each album submitted. This fee covers the time encoding the album, scanning artwork, etc. 3) The artist or label ships 3 copies of the album that was submitted. 4) Once Catapult receives the album in the mail, they begin the encoding process. It should take no longer than 7 business days from receipt of your album to scan, encode, and distribute your music to the various music stores (iTunes, Rhapsody, Sony Connect, eMusic, etc). However, once Catapult has distributed your album, it may still take several weeks for your albums to begin appearing in the various music stores. 5) Once your music has begun selling at the various music stores, they will begin transferring payments for the number of songs downloaded during a specified time period. Payment schedules can vary between each music store as some pay monthly while others pay quarterly. 6) Catapult then pays you 91%-95% of the proceeds received from the music stores (For example, if iTunes sells one of your songs for .99 cents, they would pay us .70 cents, and we would then pay you 91% of the .70 cents). Payments are made electronically on a monthly basis for the previous month's sales. 7) You then can login to your control panel to check your sales and download figures.
What Catapult needs from you to get started: 1) You must be the owner of the sound recordings on an album, OR you must have permission or the authority from the copy right owner to submit the album for digital distribution. There are severe legal and civil penalities for distributing music you do not have the rights to. 2) You must grant Catapult exclusive rights to digitally distribute the album(s) you submit. This is essential, as the various music stores require this so as to prevent duplicate entries from different distributors.
3) You must have a UPC or barcode for the album(s) you intend to submit. The online retailers we utilize require this. If you don't have a UPC, you can register one for your product for only $20. 4) You must have a PayPal account to receive payments. PayPal is the global leader in online payments and is free, fast, and easy to use. If you don't have a PayPal account, please visit PayPal to create an account. Getting Started: 1) If your music has already been approved for digital distribution, then just log into the Artist/Label Control Panel and click "Digital Distribution" to begin the process. 2) If you have not yet submitted your music for consideration to have your music digitally distributed then please click HERE to submit your music. 3) If you have any questions about Catapult's digital distribution service, please feel free to e-mail us at bandrelations@independentbands.com. |
