Review by Ryan Summers for Tracy Howe 2003-02-17
If there was ever a place to find solace and spiritual refreshment depicting the realism of Jesus' love and the hope that abounds in societal uncertainty, this is your resting place. Tracy is the most genuine and original artist I've seen. It seems her only objective in life is to pour her heart and soul and love into, well, YOU. Such a wonderful communicator through music, I have no doubt God has been preparing and initiating these precious moments since the beginning of time and she has wholly committed her life to His leading. I've seen Tracy perform three times and as encouraging and gut-stirring as her music is, her joys and hurts won't hide behind it. She takes the brokennes in life, embraces it, and transforms it with stunning humility and innocence. Contrast this with her countenance of peace and the way she maintains a consistent smile through it all. She lives to be a light to people and open her life to them, believing God means all things for good. Whenever possible she'll describe a situation and make light of it involving a contagious giggle as the fun-loving child inside of her makes an appearance. Match that with her child-like faith and your drawn into each inescapable performance. Her most recent album Long Time Gone will continue this impression with you as it showcases an original music approach and dynamic voice that you won't be able to forget. With songs like Always Faithful, Place For Me and Long Time Gone we see two strong reviews of a God who only loves us and never leaves us. With songs like Martyr, Least Of These, and All Those Years we see her depth of reflection and her committment to God in a mission-based life which she takes very seriously. Her ability to put thought-provoking and challenging words to catchy guitar and piano rifts is inspiring and it will leave you coming back for more whether it's in your main musical tastes or not. She will have another project coming out with more of the same in a live environment including a lot of new material. Being at the recording I can tell you her consistency is incredibly encouraging. I can't wait to hear more! Way to go Tracy Howe!
