Straight out of Lubbock, TX comes a band with a unique sound of acoustic rock and harmony. Similar to their first project "A Change in Direction," the album offers incredible lyrics and acoustic sound, but also provides fresh electric guitar licks that are designed to set your ears on fire. Add these guys to your CD collection and you won't be disappointed.

threshold will be opening for "jars of clay" at the dallas state fair on october 14 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!! they have recently recorded a second cd........."perceptions" ..........which, if possible, may even be better than their first!!!!!! the band consistantly pivots around the direction of the lord & gives an extension of the lord wherever they play! the band has added a talented & committed drummer, eric dorris. too, a new guitarist ..........travis.......has served to add special flavor to the band........! they continue to keep the heartbeat of the lord at the center of their music. what a gift!

A Change in Direction is the first CD for this band, and if you ever heard them live, well you keep waiting for the next CD. This one though shows you their amazing talents and their ability to praise God for these gifts. They are true servants with a great message, a wonderful harmony, and complete joy!

Review by Lyndsay Caldwell for Threshold 1999-12-11
Man, I don't even know where to start on these guys... I've been through lots with them...I've cooked for them, taken Matt to the hospital, been harassed by Clay, and endured hours and hours of practicing. (Not to mention traveled all over the state of Texas to see them). Well, Clay is awesome. I have nothing but respect for him for all the hard work he has put in during the last few years while learning to play the bass. He has a great personality and is way hilarious! Oh yeah, and he has an awesome bass solo in Richer Land! Matt is great as well. He is so talented and pours all of his heart into his music. It is amazing to sit and watch him write. I don't know Jason as well as the others, but I know that he is devoted to God, and is an absolutely terrific drummer. He also has written some outstanding songs. Duane, besides being completely full of talent, is an amazing person. My view of him has changed so much during the last couple of years. He was always "the guy down the street" to me while growing up, but now I see him as someone that is extremely blessed with brains and talent. Finally, Kyle. What do you say about someone you lived with for the first 15 years of your life that now wants to be a rock star? :) Kyle has been an outstanding influence in my life and I thank God for all the things He's doing in Kyle's life. Kyle worked really hard at learning to play the guitar for a solid 2 years and it has paid off in a major way for him. He loves writing and playing the songs and he and Matt have some incredible connection that makes the songs full of power. These guys are the best to be around and their music reflects the relationships they have with their Heavenly Father. Each and every song has come from words sent directly from God and exhibits an extremely powerful message. Every performance gets better and better as their stage presence improves. I LOVE THESE GUYS!

Threshold...what an amazing group of guys with such a distinct and profound sound of music. I know we are all a bit leery of new bands trying to make it on the music scene, but these guys will not make you disappointed. I happen to be Kyle's cousin, but I am still awed every single time I hear his voice singing. As he writes in his bio on the Threshold webpage, he did not even pick up a guitar or attempt singing in front of people until a few years ago (uh..except that time in ninth grade that he and I sang "Shine Out The Light" by Al Denson together in front of our small church to a karoke machine while the tape was playing along!) However, since that God has brought Kyle to a place where He has exploded talent from within him. Very little professional training, just God-given ability. About Matt Holtzman...this is a guy that should be everyone's best friend, but too bad he is already taken by me!! He has been a pledge brother in BYX, my roommate for a year, and even best man in my wedding. He is so devoted to people - his family, his friends, his bandmates. He is one of the most well-rounded people I have ever met. As far as his musical ability goes, it speaks for itself! Piano, guitar, singing, and even an occasional harmonica. They will be even more amazing on the upcoming release. Clay Huggins...this is a guy who, if it wasn't for the Jesus t-shirt he was wearing, I would not have met him. This happened to be before he even met Kyle and Matt. A Bible study later that week is where the "band" met. Thanks Clay! If you have chance to meet Clay, ask to hear his testimony. Yet another example of God's power and sovereignty (I've got it on videotape if you ever want to see it!!) Jason "the guy who can do a one-handed push-up" Strauss...I've had the rare privilege to work alongside him during the summer, and if you haven't caught on by now, he is passionate about his walk with Jesus too. Always smiling and laughing. One of those people who makes me sick at times! He is such a neat man and has an unbelievable smooth drumming ability. He too sings and can play the guitar very well and rumor has it, he is a song writer on the up and coming CD????. Finally, Mr. Guitarist himself, Duane. All I can say is WOW!! Threshold was really good before his addition, but Threshold is GOOD now! His lead guitar playing is so incredible! Whatever you want to hear, he can play it. He too has been known to play a wide variety of instruments...saxophone, violin!!! Some day he is going to bust out with fiddle line in one of the Threshold songs, I'm convinced! All in all, one word for this group of guys: AMAZING! Get their music and find their concerts and be there. You'll walk away blessed and encouraged!!

I have had the wonderful privilege to hear Threshold in concert several times. They are amazing!! Their CD is very inspiring and I never get tired of it. I am excited to hear the new CD that is hopefully coming out next year. In addition to hearing them in concert, I have also gotten to know some of the band members very well. I would say that their lives definitely reflect the messages in their music and the hope of Jesus Christ. If you haven't already bought their CD, it is a MUST HAVE!

Review by Betsy Strauss for Threshold 1999-11-05
Even though I happen to be married to the drummer and potentially biased, I love this band. It should say a lot that I am entertained every time I hear the band, which is every time they play. Their music is diverse, it has great lyrics and the drummer is awesome :) You should hear them, oh...and their CD is one of the best quality CD's I've heard from an independent band. I listen to it all the time.

This bunch of guys are just about the greatest Godliest guys I know!! Their CD never fails to let me know that I am not the only one who struggles with what I struggle with. It uplifts me every time!! Even though I know pretty much every word, I never get tired of the harmonies and the amazing music!!!!! THRESHOLD, YOU GUYS ROCK MY WORLD!! If you get a chance to buy the CD, you are missing out if it is not a part of your collection! Make sure you get 2, one for your car and one for your house! :)

This cd is so awesome. The song "All This Time" is one of the best songs that I have ever heard. Matt's piano skills are awesome too. I got the privilege of working with him this summer at Pine Cove Camps in Tyler, Tx. He is one the most humble guys that I know. The whole cd glorifies God. If you like good music and awesome lyrics, then I would definitely encourage you to buy this cd. ---Michael "CaddyMac" Newton

Review by BJ Olin for Threshold 1999-11-01
Well, I've seen Threshold in concert many times to tell you the truth. And they ROCK. The CD "a change in direction" is an amazing project; however, they've progressed so much, it doesn't really give them justice! You gotta here these guys live! Or, you can just get their CD. Rumor has it, they're making a new CD to be released this coming March. I hope so! Threshold has been seen performing with bands like Shane & Caleb, Nickle and Dime, Waterdeep, The Normals, 40 day fast, and more. I think these guys may be on to something! Check out their web site and go see these guys!
