Elvis Presley was the king of rock and roll, but music celebrating the King of Kings was most dear to him. Gospel music was a huge influence on Elvis in his formative years, and he always had a Gospel quartet around him. Two of his favorite quartets have gathered to record the Gospel songs Elvis loved most.

The Imperials (Terry Blackwood, Sherman Andrus, Jim Murray and Armond Morales) began recording with Elvis in the late 60's and were a part of his famous Las Vegas shows. The Stamps Quartet began touring with Elvis in 1972 and were an integral part of his shows until his death in 1977. The groups continue to perform around the world in Elvis tribute concerts in addition to maintaining their demanding Gospel concert schedules.

Reviews for The Imperials & The Stamps Quartet
Review by Steve Orlando for The Imperials & The Stamps Quartet : The Gospel Side Of Elvis 2005-10-01
Overall, the CD was very good. I really enjoyed the first track. The instrumental of Dixie led in to the chorus of How Great Thou Art. A great way to start the disc. I didn't really care for Swing Low Sweet Chariot, but hearing Where Could I Go But to the Lord made up for that. I've Got Confidence, Peace In the Valley, He Touched Me, Lead Me Guide Me, So High, Bosom of Abraham, His Hand In Mine and Sweet Sweet Spirit were fantastic. The disc ends with Blue Christmas. That version was a little bland. 10 out of 12 tracks are highly recommended.
