Review by Chris for Tait 2006-08-26
Since taking a break from dc Talk in 2000, Michael Tait has shown that he is more than capable of standing solo away from the other Talkers. His voice is only a part of the band that has been making music since 2001. The albums so far include Empty and Lose This Life. They have since left ForeFont Records, the label that dc Talk bandmate tobyMac still calls home. We don't know yet if Tait will sign again to another label or stay indie, but one thing is for sure: the tunes will keep coming!

Review by NICO CASTILLO for Tait : Lose This Life 2003-11-14
Is it possible to give ten stars? The band first hits you with “Lose This Life” that begins with some great sounds that make you anticipate what’s ahead. They give you several visual pictures of how human life can have your life out of control (a hurricane, a spider web, satellite) and by Losing Your Life you’re set free. The change of sound throughout this song is phenomenal. Michael’s smooth and strong vocals make this song come alive. “Numb” is a great title for the second song, but it definitely rocks your socks off. It has a little of everything. A lot of rock, a little rap, and a slow transition in the middle, but putting it together make a great song-TOTALLY! You’ll be electrocuted by the electrical energy of “Electric Avenue”. The message gives this loveless world love, hope, and peace in powerful way. “Fallen” immediately captures your heart from the get go with the beautiful sounds of the keyboard and holds you with the story it portrays. This song made me bleed for the young girls of this generation, but made me smile knowing that they are beginning to realize there is a God waiting to truly love them. This is a true Love Song. Michael’s vocal range is shown off in “God Can You Hear Me”! The song takes you on a roller coaster ride- It goes up/down, fast/slow, but leaves you wanting more. “Reconnecting” is a song that captures your attention immediately, because it has many wonderfully strange, but great musical sounds and you can relate to what it’s saying. “Child” is short, but “ S- w- e- e- t ! It charmed it’s way into my heart and gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling when it was over. If records were still used “Heartache” should be a single on it. This is the song that touches the deepest part of your soul and move you to seek God. It comforts the spirit and gives you hope. “Free Will” allows you to see God as He truly is- A God of Grace. What Michael does with his voice in “Wait” is truly amazing! Not a song to listen to when driving. That is if you don’t want a speeding ticket. Rock N Roll all the way! At the end of day when you’re ready to settle in for the night, “Holding Out For Grace” is a song that you can sing as a prayer to God and do a mini “Worship” before closing your eyes and bonding with God. Last, but not least, listening to Michael’s rendition of “The Christmas Song” leaves you amazed and asking “What CAN’T he sing?” He’s multi-talented and needs to do a Christmas Album! To wrap this up, This Sophomore Album is more like a Senior Album! The entire band did justice to every song and eagerly waiting for the next album! I’M A TAITfreak for Life!

Review by Scott for Tait : Empty 2003-11-11
5 Stars!!! Stunning debut by a band that proudly stands next to Third Day and Jars of Clay in the songwriting, performance and overall talent categories. From the opening, crunchy guitar chords of now-departed Pete Stewart on the riveting "Alibi" to the CD's closing number, the haunting "Unglued," "Empty" simply stands as an immaculately crafted testament in the spirit of the best power rock/pop a la The Beatles and Badfinger. Tait's sound might be a tad more polished than Third Day's, but the quartet's delivery smokes. Stewart's guitar solo on "Tell Me Why" has to be one of the greatest ever cut into wax. In the secular world, people continue to talk about the debut discs of Boston and Van Halen. Tait's first studio outing buries those with ease. Michael Tait is the consummate frontman, backed by the dual assault of bassist Lonnie Chapin and drummer Chad Chapin (the two are brothers). This CD is a must-buy, along with their new one, "Lose This Life."
