A few years back, the kind people in Corpus Christi, Texas let me take over a few of their worship services and record what we did. It's not exactly what you'd call "Today's Hot Country 100": it's not slick or rockin', or really even recorded very well. But I do think we did some actual worshipping together of God, as opposed to worshipping me, or worshipping worship, or worshipping great music, and it was just good. I don't mean to infer that great music and God-worship and mutually exclusive (though they sometimes are when I'm involved. Har.), but it was kind of a family gathering, and some hair was let down, and the hung-up-ness that I often feel about being "on it" and nailing everything weren't ruling the day.

So that's what this recording is: some people singing some songs to Father in a group-style setting. It's not intended to be entertainment (I think it would probably fail at that); it's meant to be kind of a romantic aid for you spending some good time with your Lover. Think of it as Barry White for those lovesick for God. So that's the CD, content-wise.

I've spent some time wondering about what I think I'm doing with "leading worship", and how inappropriate it is for me to have ambitions in this arena (man, I feel sticky just typing this sentence. Can you imagine anything more absurd than an ambitious God-slave?), and to make the statement that "if you want ME to help you worship God, it's going to cost you. $15, to be exact." I just can't get my head around that. So the cost of this CD is what it costs independentbands.com to distribute it. The actual production cost of the CD has been covered.
