Review by Allen for Shane Barnard : Rocks Won't Cry 2006-08-04
I just wanted to really thank the guys for obeying the voice of God and moving forward with the call of God on their lives. I can remember a few years ago while hanging out with some close friends of mine who are all either worship leaders or play for a worship team or are in band, they put in this cd and sat there figuring out the chords and words of what I know now as rocks won't cry. I can remember immediately loving the style, the words, music but especially the anointing. I didn't play anything back then but I was quickly inspired to learn. So I bought a guitar and learned to play a little from my friends for basic chords and progressions etc. But I can remember sitting in front of my cd player and pressing repeat over and over again for "breath of God" and "Prodigal Me." God really spoke to me on this two Songs. Not only did i learn to play guitar but I got a revelation of Worship. Worship is the highest form of Prayer. And I am so excited to see that these Guys are out there, not just playing music but also taking people to a place in the realms of God and getting lost along with those they are leading in Gods Glory. There is a true difference in a "worship leader" and a "lead worshipper." These guys are true "lead worshipperS!" I have every Cd from Rocks won't cry forward from Shane and Shane and I look forward to more. Thank You Shane and SHane for being a voice for this Generation as a call to worship and seeking Gods face. This Generation is chosen Generation and they need leaders like yourselves. God Bless.. Review by Chris for Shane Barnard : Psalms (indie) 2004-11-17
So, i was just listening to artist match for amy grant on musicmath, and 'psalm 143' just played. this is the first time i've ever heard of shane barnard, and i was pleasantly surprised. usually i scan thru the music to songs i know and like to listen to, but tonight, because i'm kinda tired and a little stressed out (writing a paper for one of my classes) i decided to let the music play. i can honestly say that i really liked the song. it really helped to brighten my spirits a little bit. it's a nice quiet calming song that seemed to really overwhelm me (in a good way). the quality of shane's voice and the music he was singing really matches extremely well. i can't think of a song/voice pair matching so well in a long time...it's very refreshing...thanks for lifting my spirits...hope to hear more from you soon.

Shane Barnard and Shane Everett are awesome together. Their music leads you into such an intimate worship of the Father. It's uplifting and encouraging. Just today I was going through something and I heard their song "Be near Oh God" while I was driving, and I began to be uplifted and just started to worship God. Whatever was bothering me was secondary at the moment. I love their music and their hearts for the Lord. Such a heart of worship unto the Father!! I saw them in concert when they came to my college and I really enjoyed worshipping the Lord with them!

Need I say it? Shane Barnard & Shane everett are the best n modern worship today! As a musician and fellow brother in Christ I am so thankful for there ministry it has helped me tremendously. I got a chance 2 talked to Shane B. and he has a sincere transparent spirit that was evident immediatetly in the first few opening sentences. I just want 2 say that his last album "Carry me away," is a must have 4 any fan because it exibits his musical maturity and its exciting to watch or rather hear him grow as a musician and witness what God is doing in his life.

Man, what can I say. Ive been with Shane since the begining. I remember seeing him and Caleb in concert many moons ago, and Ive been hooked ever since. I was attending East Texas Baptist University for a while right about the time Rocks Wont Cry was hot off the press and let me just say that it was songs like "Prodigal Me" and "737" that beckoned me back to our Father daily. Then when Psalms came out, I was more than touched to say the least. The following summer I attended Super Summer at ETBU where Shane and Shane where leading worship. I had an opportunity to sit down with the guys for a short moment and let them know how much they meant to me. Even now I still dont think they will ever realize what a powerfully special place they have in my heart. It was at Super Summer that I bought the Psalms ( or P-Sams as we affectionately called it ) re-release. The three new tracks blew me away! Breath of God was allready one of my favorites, but the remake was absolutely astonishing. One year later ( after a new marriage and a still in the works Indie cd for me ) I must say that Shane and Shane really outdid themselves with Carry Away. I bought it on the release date and the first time I heard it it brought me to tears. I can truly say that they got their wish with this cd. I drank deep. Never before have I listened to a cd and walked away feeling like I had just sat in the lap of our Lord. Shane and Shane are truly blessed. If you have this cd, man I hope it has shown you things about the Father you could never DREAM! And if you dont have it . . . . get it. You have to have it. Period.

~Mike~

Review by Nathan Hitchcock for Shane Barnard 2001-11-25
So yes, let's admit it: Shane Barnard is the NBT (next big thing) in worship. Rocks Won't Cry and Psalms both reflect the zeal and catchiness that the young adult crowd will certainly resonate with. Though the vocals are notable, the guitarmanship is the most impressive, using an unthinkable amount a triplets and blazing fast strums, though never appearing showy. Joel Cameron's mix gives the recording too many violent changes in the dynamic, but the songs are a fun ride. There is some talk in my circle if Shane will supercede a lot of the Passion worship. Probably not. I've wanted to introduce a few of the songs to some congregations, but the tunes are rarely conducive to corporate worship: too broad a range, vocal rhythms too odd or fast, lyrics too abstract not thematically consistent. But when it comes to the reworking and playing of songs, who else would you possibly want to come and lead your church in worship?

I think the reason I enjoy your music so much is because I heard you a couple of weeks ago in a concert at The Vine in Baton Rouge and I have never heard someone sound the same live as on their CDS. You and Shane are pretty funny guys. By the way, the song "You Said" off Psalms is by far the one of the best worship songs out there today. I get a big smile on my face every time I hear it. Shane, I do have a question for you; the first song on Psalms, is it about a girl? Every time I hear it I think about the way I should treat a girl. Anyway your a great musician and a talented singer. Good luck in all you do.

What can I say? God has truly blessed Shane B. and Shane E. with the ability to create original, emotional, and spiritual music. Every song is filled with content, whether it's Shane B. amazing me with the "Shane Strum", or if it's Shane E. blowing me away with his unbelievable ability to harmonize. I have seen Shane and Shane a number of times at Cornerstone University, and every time I am truly impressed and thankful that they could come. Their music has been a blessing in my life, and in the lives of many others. I can't wait until their next album! If you haven't heard Shane and Shane you are definitly missing out!

Hey for the first time ever I am actually stopping to write a review of a product... Everything on the "Rocks Won't Cry" CD is amazing... the more you listen the more you love it... the only complaint is that it is not available in Australia and I will have to give this borrowed version back to my friend when he leaves (there is not a chance that he is getting it back from me a moment before either!!!) If you are unsure of styling think Bebo Norman, Marc Cohn or David Wilcox... this CD should be getting or have gotten more publicity... BUY IT there is not a chance that you will regret it... It will give you butterflies in your stomach to listen to the intricate beauty woven into the songs on the disc Rocks Won't Cry. This is one of the finest albums I have listened too musically whether secular or Christian in a LONG time!!
