Due to frequent requests over the past several years, Ridgely (Eric Peters and Kevin Smith) has reprinted a very limited amount of their popular album, The Only Thing. One of the original indie-acoustic Christian bands, Ridgely performed nationally on their own and toured with Caedmon’s Call (1996) and Bebo Norman (1998), and shared the stage with Shane Barnard, Caleb Carruth, Ross King and Vigilantes of Love. Produced by Don McCollister (Caedmon’s Call, Sister Hazel, Shawn Mullins, The Indigo Girls), The Only Thing is full of songs that touch the deeper places of everyday life and faith, utilizing the unique blend of guitar and vocal harmonies that earned the duo a nationwide grassroots following during their seven years together.

This record really is a gem. The sincerity it was written in and the organic music structure makes it truly moving and a worthy purchase. It's not often a record gets a re-print, but when it does you can generally count on it being deserving. This one deserved it after a short initial run. I'm happy to see it and will be purchasing, again.

After listening to the CD, I have found that it really has it all; impeccable harmonies, infectious guitar sounds, and great variety in music. This compact disc would be an excellent buy for any lover of Christian music, and I would recommend it to everybody. Whether you like the Contemporary Christian genre or the Rock/Alternative style, you will like this CD. These two men have really been blessed by God with such incredible talent, such talent that should be appreciated by all people. Not only does the music exhibit the unbelievable gifts of the musicians, it also effectively shows deep devotion to Christ. In short, this is a wonderful CD that not only demonstrates talent but also expresses a deep love of God. Buy it!
