Review by Wandering Pitcher for Poor Old Lu : The Waiting Room 2006-03-30
A good album, to be sure, and certainly more polished production-wise than their earliest efforts. But unlike those earliest efforts (read, Sin) I get the feeling with The Waiting Room, as with Eighth Wonder before it, that the guys made up the songs in the studio. Of course, living in various corners of the country does make it difficult to tour and get the songs themselves polished. The vocals and song structuring are still there, but I have to admit that I just love Sin (the album, that is).

I've been a fan for a while now, from Mindsize, to Sin, Straight Six and A Picture of the Eighth Wonder - all, fantastic albums. I think the latest album is very good, but not quite up there with the rest, perhaps because it seems more polished. If you get this without knowing what the rest was like, then you'll love this one, it is a very good album. But the experience of the previous albums makes this seem slightly lacking. If anything, it shows how good the other stuff was not how bad this is.

Wow, I didn't realize these cats were back in the game till I visited the site.
Straight Six and Eight Wonder of the World are awesome albums if you can get ahold of them. Great rhythm and amazing vocals. Could listen to them all day.
