Simple songwriting and honest vocals, immersed within catchy arrangements, are the substance of Commas Come First, the first full-length solo album from Koo Chung. Formerly frontman of the band Broken For Good, Koo recently embarked on making his own record. Producer Mitch Dane (Randall Goodgame) and Sputnik Studios (owned by Jars of Clay), both integral to the creative process, helped Koo succeed in creating a versatile yet timeless sound that draws the listener in. His songwriting is uncomplicated and introspective, and the themes through the album reveal a young man grasping for faith in God and love. Musical appearances include Steve Mason and Aaron Sands of Jars of Clay, as well as Matt Slocum (Sixpence None The Richer), Andrew Peterson, and Gabe Scott. Other notable performances include stellar drumming from J. Mark Stanley and Paul Rhee, as well as background vocals by Dave Lee, all three longtime friends of Koo. Potential new listeners will relate Commas Come First to the sound of Andrew Peterson or Bebo Norman with a slight pop flavor. For a taste, try Track 9, Mercy's Door, about finding God's mercy amidst loneliness in sin, or Track 3, Samuel, a delightful and whimsical instrumental that demonstrates Koo's guitar craftsmanship. Just like everyone else has said, Koo just keeps getting better and better. I'd love to hear him on my radio while I'm driving to work.

Review by Tracy for Koo Chung : Parallel 2006-06-15
I have all of Koo's CD's, and they just keep getting better! I'm just blown away by the creativity and fine music this young man keeps producing. Never have I listened to an artist that produces a great album, EVERYTIME! This CD seems more rock sounding, but in a very good way. To me, it sounds very much like Jars of Clay, but done the Koo way, which is Kool! If you have any of his older stuff, and felt it was too acoustic for you, then get this CD. You will NOT be disappointed!

Review by Libby for Koo Chung : Parallel 2006-06-06
Koo's albums just keep getting better and better. Parallel is my new favorite! Through this album Koo shares with us the struggles that I believe many of us go through, Christian or not, but ultimately reveals the victory that we have in Jesus. It is an album that is encouragement to anyone. Pick up a copy for yourself and a few extra for friends. It's great music to share! :-)

Okay so I have to admit that I played While We Wait SOOOO many times this past year that I had to take a break. So I was ecstatic when Akoostics came out. This alb takes a fresh twist on all of our favorite koosongs so it's back to kooland again! Thanks dude!!

KOO is fun to catch in a live and intimate venue. Here in San Francisco, he played a big show at my church one summer, and rawked the house so loud that the cops had to come. Then he came back and did a "living room" show at a Church in El Cerrito. Quiet, intimate, and personal. That's what you'll get on AKOOSTIC SESSIONS. And if you're in need of more, I'm sure he's recording some stuff in Nashville right now that'll rawk your sox off, too. Look for it on round 3!

Completely unexpected and left speechless. Koo's art is inspiring.
