Review by Soulfire900 for KJ-52 : Behind The Musik 2005-06-24
Whoa. I would say I'm speechless, but in fact I have much to say!
When I first heard about KJ, it was in a Christian girl's magazine that offered KJ as an alternative to Eminem. At that time I hated rap so I didn't pay too much attention to it. The only rap I listened to was TobyMac, and he's not bad either, but it was getting pretty old after about 6 months of nonstop listening.
My aunt introduced me basically to KJ-52, after she attended the KSBJ Summerfest here in Texas. She calls me on the telephone and asked me if I had ever heard of KJ-52. I was like "Well, yeah, I heard his song "Five-Two" and I know all the words and I'm pretty good" and she was like "Well, he was at the KSBJ Summerfest today and he signed my CD and even opened it for me! And he's gonna be there tommorrow and Daniel isn't coming so you wanna come?"
I acctped, but sadly, KJ wasn't there. He canceled at the last minute but my aunt made me (not really, she asked me) listen to his CD Behind the Musik(the mispelled word kills me) and I just was like...Whoa. This guy is for real. Of course, the first song that I heard was 'five-tweezy' and Ilaughed so hard, but the song that made me into a permenant fan was 'God' w/ Rebeccah and I have been a fan since I was 6 and now the two I want to rap for everyone is 'life after death' (I freaked out and cried) and'never look away', which is my absoloute favorite and it's all I have listened to for about a week now. My little brother bought it for his birthday and he really wants it back now...

I have to say that KJ has got a great sound and is absolutely a great addition to the tradition of evangelization through popular music started by a Polish priest behind the Iron Curtain. But I digress. I never much listened to rap or hip-hop, quite frankly the sound irritated me too much for me to stand it, but then one summer one of my brothers introduced me to Fr. Stan Fortuna's music and then the other introduced me to KJ's. I thank you, KJ, not only for your work in evangelization, which is so sorely needed, but for my own greater appreciation of hip-hop. May God continue to bless you, sir.

KJ-52 is doing very great things for Christians and Christian music in general. His passion for Christ and compassion for troubled artists and people such as Eminem is obvious when listening to the album! His two "Dear Slim" songs are the best for those reasons! MTV and others have misinterpreted these songs and KJ in general, but we all know the truth. If we don't support people like KJ, then guys such as Eminem will soar and that would be bad, morally! It's like KJ said on "Dear Slim Part 2:" "What we say and do gives kids a better tomorrow! A life without Christ is a life that's NEVER fixed." Let's hope KJ keeps on rapping and hopping for the Lord!

KJ HAS TRULEY CHANGED MY LIFE. I RAP AND YEARS IN I USED TO LISTEN TO EMINEM AND WAS TRYING TO BE THE NEXT SLIM SHADY. BUT ALL IT BROUGHT WAS PAINFUL MEMORIES AND HEART ACHE. SO I WROTE A SONG DEDICATED TO EMINEM CALLED (DEAR GOD) IT IS A PRAYER RAP FOR HIS SOUL. WE ALL HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR HIM AND I KNOW HE WILL COME TO CHRIST . I ENCOURAGE TEENS WHO LISTEN TO EMINEM TO THINK ABOUT WHAT YOUN ARE DOING AND TURN YOURE EARS TO KJ IT IS THE SAME STYLE BUT IN A CHRISTIAN VERSION. PEACE OUT, GENESIS

I saw you in concert at the Festival Con Dios in Orange County on October 4th, 2003. I really felt convicted about how you said that not many Christians get down on their knees to pray for Eminem. I think that is so true. I have been very judgemental when in comes to Eminem. However, I've never walked a day in his shoes and it seems you almost have. So you have really inspired me to get down on my knees. I'm also gonna enlist the help of my friends. Prayer is powerful and I know God answers prayers, and I'm so excited to see how He answers this prayer!!!
God Bless You! And also remember if you're persercuted by the media or the press, that Jesus was persercuted first on our behalf!
