Review by Wiliam Jeffrey for Kemper Crabb : The Vigil 2003-07-17
Hallelujah! "The Vigil" is available on CD. The LP and the tapes I made from it and wore out have given me much high level pleasure, hope, peace, and strength. Shalom, Bill Jeffrey

I too am looking for The Vigil on CD. Count me in for the vote for a re-release.

I too love "The Vigil" and have it on LP but would like a copy of the CD. I can't afford to bid on it. I would also like to get the music for people to sing and play it at church. I am a Sacred Dancer and have chorographed a couple of the songs including "the Danse". It is such a precious presentation and very spiritually uplifting. I hope Kemper makes it available again!

My wife introduced me to Kemper's "The Vigil" back in the eighties. I loved it. While in San Francisco I ran into a stash of cassettes at a Christian Bookstore, and bought every copy I could get my hands on. Fortunately, this carried us over until last year when I was able to convince a friend to burn a copy on CD for me. While it is not record studio quality, my friend did clean up the some of the back ground noise. My wife and I listen to the cd often. If Kemper were to re-release on cd we would buy several copies of it. We had Thigpen's Wedding sang at our wedding, and have the verse, "For he wrote your name on my heart in flame, it's a wound I'll not erase," engraved on our wedding bands (Yes, we have thick wedding bands.)

I was just outbid on ebay for a cd copy of "The Vigil." I had bid $50 to obtain it and lost it to a bid of $51. In the 80's, I had two copies, one a record and one a tape both of which got stolen by "friends" and never returned. I have been looking for this on cd for years now and ask...please re-release these cd's. This music needs to be given to the public once more. Thanks

I just purchased Live at Rivendell Cafe and without a doubt, is one of the best CD's I have purchased. Kemper helps lead the evening contemporary service where I go to church, and I have heard him teach the Gospel. The man has truly been blessed by God and is using his God-given talent to forward the kingdom of God.

I heard Kemper Crabb's Archangel album back in 1981 and The Vigil soon after. In 1982, I attended Central Bible College at Springfield, Missouri and joined a group of students who had a "medieval" ministry for boys. Kemper's music inspired us and we used it in our ministry. The music is wonderful and has meaning that deeply persuades my soul today. Oddly, or eventfully, I befriended Frank Hart who was attending CBC when I was. How divinely planned it was that he would start Atomic Opera and Kemper became a part of the band. The music continues....

I've been trying for at least 12 years to find either a cassette or LP of "The Vigil", to no avail. I'll be the first in line if it is ever released on CD, that's for sure! Great work! Someone please e-mail me if you know of any proposed releases or where I can at least get a cassette of "The Vigil."

Howdy y'all from Texas. My favorite album of all times is the Warrior. I remember back in the late 70's when I watched these guys at Aslan's Coffehouse in Pasadena "getdown" TX perform the whole cd (album)live. What an awsome time. It was great hanging out with Kemper and the band at Jimmy Womacks place and after the concert went over to Jimmy's bookstore next door and bought the Redemption 45 of Liberation Song which ought to be included on one of Kemper's CDs (c'mon guys!). Kemper, if you're reading this, you know I was Arkangel's biggest fan and I'll cherish those days forever especially the time our band (Dennis Welch band) opened for Arkangel at the Pasadena Rodeo grounds. Wow! we had a blast.

I love reading all these reviews about "old" fans of Kemper's - back to the 80's! My husband, Jim, introduced Kemp and his music back in 1973, and he and his band, Redemption, sang in our wedding in 1974. We have tons of wonderfully fond memories of Kemper, his gift of ministry, and his gift of music for almost 30 years! Sadly, our copy of the Vigil was stolen about 15 years ago along with most of our other goods - we're so glad to finally catch up with him again. His smooth voice and wonderful lyricism still minister to us. Thanks, Kemper!
