Review by Caleb Oliver for John Stepp : Miracle Class 2007-05-11
I have had the privilege of playing drums with John Stepp on more than one occasion. He is quite possibly the best "independent" guitar player/musician I have ever heard. His voice is fantastic. His lyrics speak to you. And he is a humble, down-to-earth kinda guy. You should get his CD. My favorite song is "Hope". He has played it several times at my church (South Palm Community Church). I was very sad to see him go, but I know that God will use him to speak to many people with music. Thanks for getting me started, John.

Some musicians are gifted, but John is so genuine that the listener feels like the one who received the gift. After hearing his music at South Palm Community Church on Easter I was glad to find his music available on this site.

Look, John Stepp is way to good to get such minimal publicity. I saw him play at Midwinter at Camp Allen last December, during the hugely successful retreat those few days of introspection, praise, and entertainment became. We all owe Neil Guayante a big "Thank You" for introducing this cat to our lives, cause he's the real deal. I was able to chat with John for a few minutes after his performance, and he was so personable and real that it gave me pause. His music is rich in a kind of blues that one hears less and less these days, which is probably why you can hear his heart pouring out so richly in his tunes. Obviously the guy can play, but it sure is nice to hear a quality songwriter not rehashing cliches in repetitious acoustic chords. YOU SHOULD CHECK THIS GUY OUT. He is a fantastic musician, making great music, and is definitely deserving of success and notoriety.

Thanks so much for listening! It still surprises me whenever someone pays to hear me play -- whether on a CD player or in concert. I have had so much fun pushing this album, playing all over for people like you. I so appreciate your support of my music. Peace!
