Jeff Zabel's first full-length album, Vertical, combines the heart of a worship pastor with the collective talent of artists from San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Nashville. Clean vocals, moving melodies, and skilled musicianship mark the well-produced CD.

"Vertical", the catchy centerpiece and title track of the album, captures the heart of the artist and the message of the project: God alone deserves the focus of our affection. All of Zabelšs songwriting highlights the goodness of Jesus Christ, with tunes such as "Your Sweet Grace", and "I Place My Trust In You". The intimate worship ballad, "Irresistible", admires the attractiveness of Jesus and his passion for the lost. You can't help but get caught up in the compelling missional cry: "Change my heart and make me long to seek and save".

The album concludes with the 1865 hymn, "Jesus Paid It All". Zabel accentuates the popular hymn by bringing a new sound to its timeless lyric: We can find freedom from sin because Jesus paid it all.

Vibrant. Profound. Infectious. Captivating. This album is as musically superb as it is spiritually motivating. Listen to it once, and you won't be able to take it out of your CD player.

Review by Brian Gaines for Jeff Zabel : Vertical 2006-07-06
I actually find the title track, though I like it, to be my least favorite. Start on track 1. I think Jeff knew what he was doing by putting that one there. Very, very clean mix throughout. The vocals are crystal clear. I just toss the album in my CD player and sing along. This album features the debut of the SF Bay Area's Wendy Sharpe on background vocals. Worth every penny.
