What a testament to the talent, love, and yes, transparency of Gary Chapman as a songwriter, father, and husband, (Amy really made a mistake losing this one!). And the previous reviewer's decision to reconcile with his wife after their separation to the power of Godly music! (And to those sceptics out there, YES, Gary Chapman's music is THAT GOOD!) The lyrical content is solidly Christian, evangelical even, yet packaged in an extremely modern and pleasing sound with something for everyone; gospel overtones with serious rock/country/crossover appeal (evidenced by the secular success of songs such as "Finally"), but, for me, his ballads and emotionally honest "relationship" songs take the cake, (especially on The Light Inside). Delving deeply into forgiveness, love, mercy, and what it means to be a Christian, songs such as "Razor's edge" and "We can make it right tonight," (The Light inside), and "Daddy cut my hair" and " Where are the broken hearts," (After God's own heart CD), can pierce through even the hardest hearts with hope, encouragement, and conviction to do what all successful relationships take to succeed and try again. Of course, for story songs, "Sweet Jesus" is pretty hard to beat as well. Personally, I favor separately released albums over greatest hits Cd's, because it always seems something great gets left out in the compilation process, (and all of Gary's Cd's, especially "Light Inside," are so good!). But I must be honest, this one hits it out of the park! Five stars! *****

Gary chapman has the ability to be transparent through his music. I listened to "The Light Inside" while my wife and I were sepeated for three years. His desire to reconcile to Amy was clear and his acknowledgement of his own folly and ongoing need for Jesus is clear in his music as well. He doesn't candy coat his heart with his musical talent. My wife and I are now reconciled and because Gary's music and love for his wife & (the church); I have been greatly comforted in grief, inspired with hope and encouraged by his committment to press on.
