Released Sept 3, 2002 Featuring The Antioch Community Church and Other Special Guests (Barry and Michelle Patterson, Ben and Robin Paisley - 100 Portraits, Robin Mark). Although held physically captive in Afghanistan, these young women set their spirits free through worship. Experience the Songs of Freedom that they sang and penned to help sustain them and make them Prisoners of Hope. Featuring familiar worship songs they sang while in prison, along with new songs written by Dayna Curry. All proceeds from this project are being donated to "Hope Afghanistan", an organization founded for relief to the poor in that nation. Heather Mercer and Dayna Curry decided to go to help people who needed help. Their faith led them to Afghanistan. One woman who knows them best put it this way: They had a calling to serve the poorest of the poor, and Afghanistan is where that calling took them. And Heather and Dayna's faith in God sustained them throughout their ordeal. It's a wonderful story about prayer, about a faith that can sustain people in good times and in bad times. Their faith was a source of hope that kept them from becoming discouraged. I talked to them right after their release, their freedom and I sensed no bitterness in their voices, no fatigue, just joy. It was an uplifting experience for me to talk to these courageous souls. President George W. Bush Rose Garden press conference, November 2001 "The idea for the CD actually came in prison," comments Curry. "Worship was what carried us through our days in prison, and I thought ‘if we get out of here, wouldn’t it be neat to make a CD of the worship songs that have helped us the most and then use the proceeds to help rebuild Afghanistan!’ It’s hard to believe the idea is becoming a reality, but most of all we hope that the songs on this CD will bring comfort and peace and a real sense of God’s nearness to all who listen to it and especially for those in difficult and seemingly hopeless (prison-like) situations." The CD features Dayna and Heather along with the Antioch Community Church Worship Band, the women’s home church in Waco, Texas along with various guest vocalists. The project was recorded live at the church in early May 2002, and features well-known worship songs they sang while in prison, including "Come Fall on Us," "What A Friend I’ve Found," and "Jesus, Lover of My Soul," as well as "Fear Not," written by Mercer and Curry during their captivity.
