Reviews for David Meece
Review by Thomas True for David Meece : Odyssey 2005-02-13
David Meece has got to be one of the best songwriters and musicians I have heard. His music has real depth and reaches you soulfully and passes and test that few artists can match. I first bought Meece's Candle in the Wind back in 1987 and I fell is one of the best releases from that period and in 1990 I followed that one with his Learning to Trust Release. Meece music is relegated to the "Christian genre" however the great arrangements and great producing remind me a Yes or some of The Moody Blues albums. You will not find much if you wish to discover something about philosophy in his words. But he does well and you have to write about something and this is what Meece chooses to be his subject and that is fine. However, songs such as, The Water is Fine and Candle in the Rain have deeper meanings that can be view as say a Kansas song Point of know Return or U2’s One. However, the most impressive thing about Meece is his great composing and musicianship. Songs such as His Love was Reaching and To the Glory of God are good examples of many, that show the craftsmanship of his skills. One cannot help but hear the soulful longing from a man that has seen a lot, almost reminiscent of Jim Croce or John Denver but with a much more elaborate orchestrations. I heard one of his songs today called My Father’s Chair which I hadn’t heard before. It had been several years since I heard his music and it was nice to hear those strong vocals and arrangements of his once again. I have not heard too much of his music prior to Candle in the Rain. As I recall it was really not well produced as much music for the Christian genre was at the time. But for a few years the music got really popular, and the companies were actually able to spend some money on real producers and equipment. It is sad that the people that are in “Christian music” are unable to produce secular albums. Because I think Meece would be one that many more people would love to hear if he was to produce one. Another “Christian” band you might enjoy as well is The Choir.

Review by Jill for David Meece : Once In A Lifetime 2004-08-25
I first witnessed the strength of his music when he toured Australia. Many of his songs reflect his personal ordeals as a child and the glory of God, and his ability to let go and accept and forgive. The music is never sad or droll or depressing as some Christian music can be. I believe David Meece has inspired many believers and non-believers to enjoy the beauty that is in his music. Not just for the content, but the musical brilliance that is David Meece. I even got to meet him after the concert. His boots totally rock!

i have all 13 of David's on CD, which i've gone to great lengths to get ahold of....and I must say that every single song of his is uplifting, and very inspirational. I love every song he's ever song. you should get his first self titled album, if you can, and listen to the songs "I Love You Lord," and "Got to know your there." those 2 songs really touched my heart to the core, from the first time I listened to those songs. David truely has an amazing heart for God....and it shows in the way he shares God's word through his songs. I highly reccommend you to collect all his music if you can....and listen to this powerful tool in Ministry for God's word. your heart will be changed through this ministry thru music. I guantee it.

Odyssey. This is a must have for any Christian. The lyrics and music are absolutely amazing. The songs are truly from a man who has "experienced" the song. I guarantee these songs will grow on you and touch your heart and life.
