Released July 24, 2007 On his solo debut, Sons and Daughters, CJ Bergmen blends a mix of progressive musical influences with lyrical honesty to create a fresh and much-welcomed addition to the world of modern worship music. While not shying away from harsh realities or honest questioning, the album’s lyrical focus centers on redemption, hope, and grace for a fallen world. Driving piano and electric guitars point to Brit Rock influences such as Coldplay, Radiohead, and Snow Patrol, while Indie, and Alt- Country influences (Phil Wickham, Derek Webb) mesh to form a style which at times channels straightforward rock and roll and is at times subtle and epic. Produced by [e] = edisontheory, the production team of worship leaders, Matt Gibson and Sean Johnson. Mixed by J.R. McNeely (Anberlin, Jeremy Camp, Relient K ,UnderOath) and mastered by Brian “Big Bass” Gardner (Jimmy Eat World, The Killers, Black Eyed Peas, Tom Petty). This is a raw and fresh debut, from a passionate worshipper who calls people to pursue the deeper things of God. Guest musicians on the record include Mike Dodson of David Crowder Band on bass and artist Anneliese Larson adding sweet and haunting background vocals.
