Those who meet the members of Casting Crowns quickly realize they are still the same down-to-earth people with ministry at the heart of what they do both on the road and in their local churches. Each of them serves on-staff or as a layperson including lead singer/songwriter Mark Hall who still holds his post as youth pastor at his home church.

Casting Crowns’ third album The Altar and The Door draws on this first-hand ministry experience with real people, real life struggle and the faith that overcomes. “At the altar, everything makes sense,” says Hall. “When we’re in the church and spending time with God we know what we’re supposed to do and how to live. Everything is black and white. But somewhere between the altar and the door, when we leave and go out into our lives, it all leaks out. Everything gets gray again. It’s like we have these two lives, and the Christian life is the journey between the altar and door….trying to get the things you’ve got in your head, into your hands, into your feet, and into your life. This album is all about that journey of realization, the struggles we encounter and the victory of seeing it as possible.”

Casting Crowns is one of my favorite Christian bands of all time. Each song has such a wonderful message that my family and I can relate to. The first song that i ever heard from this band, was Who Am I... i fell in love with that song because it helped me realize who i am in Christ Jesus and that i would be so messed up if i never had him in my heart.. Thanks again Casting Crowns for your wonderful lyrics and am looking forward to listening to many more of your CDS! love you all...

I was at Kingsfest at King's Dominion in Virgina last night and they played All Because Of Jesus and East to West and I have to say that those two songs along are worth getting the new CD ESPECIALLY East to West...chorus so owned me and I had to get on my knees. Casting Crowns is definitely one of my favorite bands. Praise God for allowing them to be used!

Review by Kelly Patrizio for Casting Crowns : The Altar And The Door 2007-07-02
The first time I heard Casting Crown was at Spirit West coast and Mark was giving His testimony and it was exactly how I had felt. I had heard about their first song 'Who am I' and loved it. I bought the able and then knew I loved this band. Their song Voice of truth had ministered to me in ways I could never describe. As I continued to listen to their music, I thought wow these guys don't just make up words to rhyme, they sing truth. Real life things that happen to ordinary people. I felt like God had taken my heart and handed it to Mark and the band and said here, write songs about this girls heart. I had felt they knew everything about my life. Though I knew this wasn't true, it did tell me that I wasn't alone. None of us are. We all struggle. The Bible says when one suffers we all suffer. Thanks Guys, for speaking truth in the Spirit and pouring out your hearts through your music. May God continue to mightly use you and richly bless you in your ministry. Remember God doesn't need us, He wants us.

Unbelievable CD...this guys (Mark Hall's) writing is scary...in a good way...so incredibly refreshing to have someone actually challenge us...even get ON to us in the Christian music arena...if you cant worship God...and be drawn closer to Him through this music...then more than likely music isnt going to ever insipre you to worship...but its not your stereotypical worship album...its actually VERY good music too...thanks guys...God's blessing you!

I have never in my life been so touched by anything in my entire life. The word to almost every one of their songs touch my heart. They make me realize that without God i would be nothing.

So I'll be the first to review their NEW CD! How awesome God is, and it is EVIDENT in this CD that Casting Crowns knows that! The first time I heard them, I couldn't get enough! I was a freshman in college last year, and their CD was the triumphant cry of my heart MANY times last year! The fear they describe in their songs WAS me! So when the new CD came out I had to have it! Of course I got it on the Tuesday it came out. I'm from Mississippi. My family was hit hard by the storm, but we do not live on the coast. I can only imagine how bad it was hit because my family was hit extremely hard. One of the most helpless feelings is being 2 hours from home and not being there to help. I popped in my new Casting Crowns CD to hear "Praise You In This Storm." As I'm sitting in my dorm room watching horrible pictures of MY state, and places that I've traveled all my life, tears filled my eyes. This is definitely the song written for ME and MY state! Listen to it. Play it--that's how it feels down here. The entire CD is amazing! Better than the first (and I never thought I'd say that!) If you don't own it...you need it! God shines through this band!

Review by katie brown for Casting Crowns 2005-07-10
i think mark hall has outstanding talent to be able to put into words how much god does and means. the song lyrics are incredible and i strongly believe that the band casting crowns is helping young people to realize how much they need god through their amazing song lyrics. i've alwasys wanted to be a compemtorary christian singer and this band has imspired me in so many ways. in my school talent show i plan on singing "if we are the body" and im so excited, not sing for a crowd of people, but to spread the word of god through song. the first time i heard this band was a few years ago in my dads car and ever since i have loved hearing their songs over and over, i never get tired of awesome music and lyrics that praise god!

Review by Bethany for Casting Crowns 2005-06-29
When I first listened to Casting Crowns I was skimming through some sound clips on the internet. Later I heard the song Who Am I at church and I fell in love with it. It has to be the most powerful song I've listened to and to this day I can listen to it over and over again. That song hooked me on this group and after buying the cd I found that I like every song. God's truely speaking through the words if you really take time to listen to the lyrics the group has written. On the home website of casting crowns I looked up all the verses that they got the idea of each song from..there's no other way to describe it except for POWERFUL! I can't wait for the Lifesong:-D

I have to say that Casting Crowns is at the top of the bands in Christian music today. With a new sophmore album coming soon that sounds amazing from the sound clips, they are right where they want to be. After the amazing smash that there self titled cd brought I would suppose this upcoming cd will be a step up meaning more wonderful lyrics by Mark Hall and his cast of musicians. "If We Are the Body", "Voice of Truth", and "Who Am I" go down in my book as the best - back to back to back - combination in a long time.
