This is a gorgeous album. I've always loved modern renditions of old hymns, and own quite a collection of this genre. This one has got to be one of the very best. So stylistically varied - and Bart seems to fit effortlessly into each musical mode. My favourite has gotta be the minimalist cover of the popular "Old Rugged Cross" - what a breattaking sound he produces - deeply moving and excellent to play to non-believers. I love it.

I LOVE this album! I was raised in a small Southern Baptist church in Texas, so these hymns are so much a part of my childhood. Bart Millard takes these hymns and spices them up a bit, which makes it fun. Mawmaw's Song (In the Sweet By and By) and Softly & Tenderly are my favorites.
