Review by Alec for As Cities Burn : Son, I Loved You At Your Darkest 2006-04-14
This album really presents something different to a genre bleeding with consistancies and cliches. As Cities Burn delivers an album that reaches across genres. While some of the tracks are forgettable, the one that are are extradordinary. The lyrical talent of the vocalist is outstanding and the guitars are relentless. Finding a moment when the guitars aren't ripping is a rarity. Songs like "The Widow" and "Of Want and Misery: The Nothing That Kills" show the true promise and talent of ASB's lyrical genius. Other songs like "Bloodsucker Pt. 2," "Admission: Regret," and "Thus From My Lips, To Yours, My Sin Is Purged," shows the insanly talented musicanship the artist represent. The album is amazing as is their live show. If you have a chance to pick one up or see them, I strongly reccomend it.
