Review by Marijke Strong for Anglers Chat : Famine 2007-02-02
At a point in my life when I find I'm reacting against Christian "pop culture," this is relieving and real. To be led through the progressions of worship with the "gloss" off, that is a gift. Deep calls to deep, eh? Thank you my friends.

"Famine" is an incredible "home recording" project. Excellent musicality and a very professional recorded result. I love the quality of the lyrics, many of which are straight from scripture. Well done Anglers Chat!

I just recently bought another copy of this because I gave my first copy away to someone else who really wanted it. The song Psalm 13 is excellent. It's rare that you find such a song that is a lament - very cool. It really speaks to you if you are in that place. The whole album has been arranged to speak to you in the various peaks and valleys that you may find yourself in.

Anglers Chat have done an exceptional job in bringing intense biblical themes to life in a decidedly un-commercial way for this generation. The style cannot be pinned down. It's simply real, transparent, and memorable. If I were to guess what the melodies of heaven will sound like, this would be that.

This cd is a brilliant arrangement - I love the way the songs were organized, because they take me through a whole range of emotions and thoughts. It's kinda like a story on tape. The acoustic sound is very natural and earthy, which is a welcome change from all the worship rock out there. It tends to accent the poetics a little better. Overall this is a reflective album drawn from the greatest story ever told - that of Jesus the Messiah.
